Gymnastics Tournament in UZBEKISTAN

(2 October 2009)

Over 80 athletes from Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Russia and Uzbekistan participated in the IInd Special Olympics Uzbekistan Invitational Gymnastic Tournament.  Artistic and Rhythmic competitions took place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on 26-28 September 2009.

An international conference, under the title "A comprehensive solution towards greater social inclusion of individuals with disabilities, inclusive education and the role of sport" was also organized on 26 September.

Participants in the conference were representing different non government organizations as well Ministries of the Uzbekh Government and International Organizations such as: UNICEF, UNESCO, UNDP.  All in attendance agreed that the Special Olympics movement can play critical role in social inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities as well as contribute to new ideas and projects changing life of individuals and their families.
