As an additional step of a collaboration development between Inter Milan and Special Olympics, the black and blue team is promoting Special Olympics on occasion of its current tour in the United States. The initial event was games plaied agains Club America and Chelsea in the "World Football Challenge" in Palo Alto and Pasadena on July 19 and 21, when Special Olympics athletes escorted players on the pitch.
To end the two day event, the team was received by Bobby Shriver, nephew of John F. Kennedy, and son of Special Olympics founder, to celebrate their presence in the United States. Angelo Moratti, President of Special Olympics Italy, Bedi Moratti, Ernesto Paolillo, representing Inter club and other thirty personalities from the financial, economical and artistic world participated in the event. Also in attendance were the sports legends Nadia Comaneci and Rafer Johnson.
