POLAND: Agreement to hold European Games signed in Warsaw

On the 17 November 2008 an agreement to organize the Special Olympics European Summer Games 2010 was signed in Warsaw, Poland.  The signing took place at the Polish Olympic Committee Center.  Mary Davis, Managing Director, Special Olympics Europe/Eurasia (SOEE), and Zbigniew Niemczycki, President, Special Olympics European Summer Games 2010, signed the document.  Also attending the signing were Wlodzimierz Paszynski, Vice President of Warsaw; Barbara Krawczyk, Sports Director in the Warsaw City Office; Boguslaw Galazka, head of the 2010 Games Organizing Committee; Piotr Mencina, Special Olympics Poland National Director; Mariusz Damentko, Sports Director, SOEE; Krzysztof Krukowski, Director, Organizational Development, SOEE; and Miroslaw Krogulec, Senior Manager, Organizational Development and Sports, SOEE.  Well-known journalist and long-time Special Olympics supporter Michal Olszanski also attended.

The European Games will involve all 58 Special Olympics National Programs.  In total 1,800 athletes are expected to participate.  The Games will be held from 18-23 September.
