2009 Special Olympics European 7-a-side Football Tournament

This event is designed to host athletes of lower ability level.

Special Olympics European Football Tournament

Vision: Through the common language of sports, the Special Olympics European Football Tournament aim to encourage people without intellectual disabilities to break barriers and forge new friendships to help build a more welcoming and inclusive society.

Through the common language of sports, the Special Olympics European Football Tournament aim to encourage people without intellectual disabilities to break barriers and forge new friendships to help build a more welcoming and inclusive society.

Twenty four male teams from 24 National Programs in Europe/Eurasia will gather in Lisbon, Portugal to compete in 7-a-side Football.

Age group: 16 and older

Ability group: low ability teams, level 3-4 according Special Olympics Europe/Eurasia divisioning DVD

Other participants: Coaches (70), School-age children (4.000), Family member (200), Guests (100), Media (40)

Other activities:
Football Clinics, Football Workshop, Health Athletes Screening, European Football Fan Park, Torch Run.

Ceremonies:
Opening: May, 7th, Closing: May, 10th
