In early October 2009, Special Olympics athlete Tatyana Kozyrevskaya from Ust-Kamenogorsk in eastern Kazakhstan took part in an athletics tournament in her home town. Kozyrevskaya, won two gold medals in the 100 m and 200 m. The twenty-five year old has been involved in Special Olympics since 2004. During this time she has trained in bowling, athletics, skiing, tennis and aquatics. “I am a very strong person and am good at many sports but my favorites are skiing and bowling,” she said. Kozyrevskaya lives with her mother, brother and her lovely cat Vanechka. Kozyrevskaya stays busy by helping her mother with the housework. Her family is proud of her achievements and her self confidence and grateful that she joined Special Olympics.
